“We give thanks to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, praying always for you, since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints.” Colossians 1:3-4
The only prayer that God hears from those who have not accepted His Son as their Savior is the prayer of repentance. But God hears every prayer of those who have repented and turned their lives over to the Holy Spirit. What a huge responsibility we have as believers on Jesus Christ; to pray.
There are so many times when I hear of a believer who has fallen prey to the world and I want to sit back and say, “Well, how could they do that?” I call this the “I would NEVER do that syndrome.” Knowing deep in my heart that if I don’t keep my focus on Christ then I am just as subject to fall as the next person.
We are called to pray for those who appear to be weaker than we thought. We are called to pray for this country of believers to look to Jesus for their answers and not to the world. We are called to pray for discernment of evil tactics set to rob our country of unity. We are called to pray for ourselves, that we will overcome.
“Father, we come humbly before You and ask that Your Spirit reach across the lands to all who are hurting and spiritually lost. Restore their hearts with hope everlasting; comfort them with Your tender, loving arms. May we be sensitive to their needs, whether physical or spiritual, and be eager and willing to share Your love for them, just as You have bestowed Your love upon us. And Father, remind us when we are judging instead of praying.” In Jesus’ Name, Amen
