God will reveal….

“…and be sure your sin will find you out.”

Numbers 32:23b

Have you ever had a feeling that Satan was watching over your shoulder? There is a heavy, unhealthy feeling when evil is about. Walking in a crowded store, or down a city street, or sitting in your own home. You know that Satan is there, watching and waiting.

I remember one time  I ignored that feeling and my daughter suffered for it. I knew that the person who worked with us on her ministry, taught her Sunday School class, and acted as her spiritual friend had ulterior motives. But I wouldn’t let myself believe that a Christian could have that kind of evil at work in their life. I have had to ask for forgiveness for that many times, although I know that God forgave me the first time I asked; I have to keep forgiving myself.

I learned a valuable lesson in that experience and I became more aware of when the Holy Spirit is prompting me to pray against evil near my children, in my home, and in my life. God has proven many times that when I pray for evil to be revealed, He is faithful to reveal it and remove it.

As the Mom of a recovering addict, I pray this quite often. Not necessarily because I know of relapse, but because I want to know. Although I love my child, I do not want that evil in my home. Addiction destroys families, testimonies, and physical lives. Addiction is a tool of Satan the ruler of this world and unless we pray against it, he will continue to fulfill the Scripture that says, “The thief (Satan) comes only to steal and kill and destroy…” John 10:10a. Satan is that thief. He came to steal our children, our spouses, and our friends through addiction to drugs. He will use any and all methods to further the addiction: depression, loss, fear.

But the rest of that verse gives us the revelation power, “…I (Jesus) came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” John 10:10b. Jesus left us with the Holy Spirit as a means of knowing when Satan is attacking. We can have abundant life, joyful life, through prayer for revelation of evil. God is faithful to reveal and remove the evil; I have seen it many times.

My friends, do not hide under a bushel as I did. Be bold in praying for God to reveal any and all evil that may be present in your house. But the most important follow up to that is to let God handle it. We can’t control evil, but the mighty warriors of God can.

Be blessed, my loved ones, and be honest with yourselves.
