If my people…Day 27

“Cast your burden on the Lord, and He shall sustain you; He shall never permit the righteous to be moved.” Psalm 55:22

A child dies. A wife leaves. A lost job. Addiction. Abuse. We all have burdens. We all cry. Yes, in our own way, we all cry. That is not a bad thing. Crying is God’s way of releasing the pressure in our hearts and minds that living in this world brings to us. Pain is universal and feeling pain for a night is alright.

In those times when life becomes unbearable, God holds us. He whispers His love to us and cares for us. He symbolically holds us on His lap and like any good Daddy, Abba Father pats us on the back and says, “There, there, it’ll be ok tomorrow.”

America feels pain. Every day we watch as mothers and fathers, sisters and brothers, stand in the streets and cry. They watch their loved ones gunned down and their homes burned. They see abuse and injustice for themselves and those around them. But God is faithful. He has given us the gift of the Holy Spirit to comfort us and lead us to a peace that this world does not understand. We must turn to God in our pain. We must turn to God always.

Father, You are so wonderful. Thank You for caring about our burdens. Open our hearts to Your Spirit and let us listen to Your voice. Strengthen us, O God, with confidence in You that we may live for You and glorify Your name. Father, we praise You for all the gifts that You have given us. Draw us close to You that we may see Your glory.

If my people who are called by my Name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV
