A prayer of thanksgiving

Praying Woman“Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Colossians 3:16

Father God, to me every day is a day for giving thanks. You have blessed me beyond anything I could have ever hoped for.

But, America sets aside one day each year as a conscious reminder of how we are blessed to live in America. You brought us to this country so that we could worship You freely and without condemnation.

So many others around the world do not have this freedom and I want to lift each person up to You for guidance, safety, and fulfillment of your promises in their life. Some will be martyred today, before the sun sets on them, for their belief in the One true God. Others will continue to live in fear as they gather in secret to worship and learn more about You as they study the Bible and pray.

God, I pray that someday, around the world. that each country will have a designated thanksgiving day. A day when they were given the freedom to worship You and share their faith with others.

And Father God, let every American start this Thanksgiving Day on their knees, truly thanking God that we live in America. Let their focus be on all that You have freely given to us and let the Holy Spirit speak to each Christian on how we can give back to You this coming year. Ask us how to live life in a way that is not taking our freedom for granted, but using it as a means to live a life reflecting your Son, Jesus Christ, who provided that freedom. Let us come together as one Christian body. Bring a revival to America, Lord, and let it begin in me.

Thirty Days of Prayer for @realDonaldTrump – Day 22: The government on His shoulders

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.”

Isaiah 9:6

My prayer today is simple, Lord. Let the government of America rest on the shoulders of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and not on the shoulders of man. Let every decision be made through the power and leading of the Holy Spirit.

We are the church

“Pay careful attention to yourselves and to all the flock, in which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers, to care for the church of God, which he obtained with his own blood.”

Acts 20:28

Church. Simple word, but so much meaning. We enter the door to where we worship and we say we are going to church. We sing special music and we say we are doing it for the church. We serve in fellowship and we do it for the church. But we are forgetting one vital aspect, we ARE the church.

Christ didn’t die for a building, He died for us. His Holy Spirit lives in us to make us overseers of each other, not of the building. He obtained each of us by His Blood to be His living church. We are obligated to pay careful attention to ourselves and to each other in how we choose to live as the church.

So, when we complain about how things are going, we have to remember that we are the church and we alone have the power to pray about and influence where we choose to serve. It is not always going to go as our human minds want it to go, but what does our spirit tell us? We will know if God is moving us to another place of worship, but we will never leave the church because it is inside each of us.

Pray about your part in unifying the body of Christ, what is God asking you to do today? What is He asking you to pray about? Where is He asking you to serve other parts of the church body? Listen and obey. Don’t let Satan take that blessing away from you.

Thirty Days of Prayer for My Pastor – Day 6

“And how are they to preach unless they are sent? As it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the good news!”

Romans 10:15

I know without doubt that You, Lord, sent my pastor to our church to lead us, and all of those who enter in, out of the darkness of the world. He brings the Good News of Jesus Christ to all who know him, many times without saying a word. Protect him, Father God, from all that Satan would plan to destroy his testimony. Walk with him as he visits hospitals and funeral homes, that he would be aware of every lost soul and that he would be bold in his testimony of salvation joy.

I pray that he would continue to lead lost souls to You, Jesus, and that he would pass that desire to see the lost saved on, to his congregation. I pray that doors of opportunity for witness may be continually opened to him. As he is called to preach in other churches, prepare the hearts of the people before he is even called. Open his eyes to see the lost, even in those who live the life, but have never fully accepted You as their Savior. Reveal the hardened hearts to him and give him the words and the wisdom to lead them to Jesus.

I pray, Lord, that our church would focus on bringing the lost to a saving knowledge of You, the Christ, and that our pastor would lead the way. I pray that he would be an example to his staff for using each day to reach the lost for You.

Thirty Days of Prayer for My Husband – Day 29: Strengthening our marriage

“Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.”

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Father God, we’re in this marriage to the end of life on earth. And I pray, Lord, that it continues when we reach that mansion that You have prepared for us, because I can’t imagine heaven without my husband.

I know that keeping a marriage exciting and alive is not easy, especially when all around us we hear things like, “Well, if it doesn’t work out it doesn’t take much to get a divorce.” What is ‘divorce’ Father? It has to be a surgical procedure, because when we said “I do” we became one flesh. No wonder there is so much pain in the separation.

I ask, Lord, that You grow us closer through the years and that the struggles of daily life only push us to each other for comfort and wisdom. I pray that the fruit of the Spirit would prevail during hardships and that we would always think of how our words, moods, and decisions affect the other before they come out.

I ask that You would remind us to live in the Spirit at all times and that we would strive for peace, love, joy, faithfulness, patience, kindness, goodness, gentleness, and self control in every aspect of our marriage. And, Lord, I ask you to know my husband and to strengthen him in whatever area You see that he needs Your guidance. If there are areas where my hubby knows he needs help, give him the boldness to come to me so that we can pray together. And remind me to do the same.
