Walking in the Spirit

Since we live by the Spirit, we should also walk in the Spirit.

Galatians 5:25

I drive a 2015 Jeep Wrangler. I enjoy my Jeep but about two years ago I really started having fun with it. Jim and I went to a Jeep Invasion in Pigeon Forge, I joined Jeep Church and Duck, Duck, Jeep KY on Facebook. And I decorated my Jeep. I couldn’t figure out what to name her, most of the names for red Wranglers were already taken. I kept coming back to my birth verse, Galatians 5:25. I already have a vanity plate with that on in, but to put it out there on my hood? Hm,m,m,m, for all to see? What if I make a mistake and people see it and think that I just put it on there for show? Wow, can I overthink something or what?

So my Jeep became KY GAL 5:25. And people ask me what the name stands for and I get to share the gospel. That was the purpose.

My Wrangler is my safe place. When I need to get away to my “mountain” , sometimes I get in and drive to a spot high above the city and just sit in my car and pray. Other times I go to a secluded place in a local park and sit to listen to God’s voice. I listen to Christian praise as I travel and it reminds me that my life belongs to God and His Spirit is within me to help me at all times.

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have received from God?

1 Corinthians 6:19

My fear of doing something wrong is real, what if I cut someone off in traffic, or complain with my granddaughter in the car about the person who cut me off. What if they see me get frustrated at the grocery because of the prices then see me get into my Scripture covered Jeep? What if?

Well, I am not perfect. I am forgiven, always. And that is the testimony that the world needs to hear. Yes, I walk in the Spirit as much as my humanity can. But the world needs to know that walking in the Spirit is how we live when we turn our lives over to Jesus to change us. We will never be perfect, but through the journey, we learn, and we are forgiven of our mistakes, and we learn more about how to be examples to others in forgiveness and love.

He (Holy Spirit) will glorify Me (God) because it is from Me that He will receive what He will make known to you.

John 16:14

The Spirit listens for the Father’s next words of instruction for us. If He gave all His knowledge to us as soon as we were saved, how else would He get the glory He deserves in our clinging to Him? God gave us a free will so that we would recognize our need for Him. So that we would seek Him daily and that we would know our own weaknesses can only be strengthened through reliance on the Holy Spirit living in us.

So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.

Galatians 5:16

God works through the Holy Spirit living in me and I will walk in the Spirit always. Now, let’s go Jeepin’!

I am a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. My birth verse is Galatians 5:25 "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit" and it truly represents how I want to be known. My blog is my personal insight into living as a godly submissive wife, a mother with "eyes in the back of her head" and Mamaw's Baby Grands can do no wrong. I hope that you will find exactly what you need each time you read. Be blessed. Sheila
