Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus

“The saying is trustworthy and deserving of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the foremost.” 1 Timothy 1:15

I was on my way home from an absolutely blessed breakfast with a couple of friends when this song came on. It was a struggle to keep my hands on the wheel of my Jeep! I wanted to start singing and praising and letting Jesus take the wheel! Of course, being the attentive driver that I try to be, I kept my hands where they needed to be until I got home. But the words of this song by Anne Wilson kept singing in my spirit and I thought, how real!

Verse 1 starts out by asking the hard questions.

Are you past the point of weary?
Is your burden weighing heavy?
Is it all too much to carry?
Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus
Do you feel that empty feeling?
‘Cause shame’s done all its stealing
And you’re desperate for some healing
Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus

I don’t know anyone who has not felt each of these. When the project you are working on takes another wrong turn. When your precious newborn is up all night for the third night in a row. When the ministry you want doesn’t pan out and you start to doubt your calling. Or when you know you have worked so hard for sobriety only to be turned down for yet another job opportunity. Weariness overtakes us. We are hurting deep inside our bones by the weight of the burdens we carry. We just feel empty because no one notices us, trusts us, or wants us. And then….there is Jesus.

He makes a way where there ain’t no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain’t no sinner that He can’t save
Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He’s done for me
Let me tell you ’bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life

Jesus. My Savior. My Redeemer. My Comfort. He intercedes for me with God the Father. He hears my heartbeat. He knows my thoughts. And He cares for me. Me! When I lose my focus and let the world make me weary, empty, and ashamed, Jesus sees me. He cares and He makes a way for me! He knew me before I was born, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” Jeremiah 1:5. He knows me today, “I am with you always” Matthew 28:20. And He knows my tomorrow, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope” Jeremiah 29:11. Yes, Jesus is. Jesus was. Jesus always will be. And He is not just for the few, but the many. Jesus is salvation for the lost. There “ain’t no sinner that He can’t save” if they believe He is the risen Son of God. There is Christian that goes so far that He will not accept them back into the fold, “He can do for you what He’s done for me.” He will change your life. Thank you, Anne Wilson for writing our hearts.

Let’s all tell ’bout our Jesus.
