My favorite thing to do is to walk. I love to walk through the mountains; up and down the winding trails, over and beyond my line of sight. I keep my eyes open for the unusual: a small waterfall almost hidden behind the leaves, new growth from ashes, small purple flowers pushing out their beauty among the vast expanse of green. And I love to walk along the ocean shore. Picking up sea shells abandoned by their clams. Flocks of sea birds darting into the water to catch their next meal. And I like the feel of the shifting sand under my feet as the water rushes beyond my steps. There is truth in each of these walks. Truth that no matter how far up a mountain I go, there is always a way back. Truth that no matter how much sand washes away under my feet there is a firm foundation below.
God’s Word is truth and we should choose to walk in that truth each day. Just as with the mountain hike and the seashore stroll, there is something to see and cherish each time we open our Bibles. There is a firm foundation that will always catch us no matter how deep into life we go. And there is a flow of living water, sometimes partially hidden by the leaves of life, but always there.
Lord, we hunger for Your Word. Teach us the way that we should go and help us to walk in Your truth each day. May Your praise always be on our lips, and may You fill our hearts with the joy of Your love and blessing. You are a gracious and loving God whose mercy is new every morning. And we thank you, In Jesus’ Name, Amen
“If my people who are called by my Name humble themselves, and pray, and seek my Face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14 ESV
