The mouth of the righteous speaks wisdom, and his tongue talks of justice. The law of his God is in his heart; none of his steps shall slide.” Psalm 37:30-31
The Bible is God – breathed wisdom. Men and women led by God to record every word for the population of Israel on living a righteous life. I praise God that through His Son, Jesus, I was included in that population even though I am not in the Jewish faith. I remember when we adopted our daughter and we received her birth certificate, it stated that she was born to James and Sheila Llewellyn. It was as if I carried her in my body for nine months and gave physical birth to her on November 30. There is no difference between her and our natural born children. As Gentiles, or those not of Israelite heritage, God did that for us. Through Jesus life, death, and resurrection, those of us who were not born into the Jewish lineage are children of God through His adoption. All we have to do is to believe in Jesus. The Bible was written for all people to absorb and use the wisdom of God.
We have taken the Bible out of our schools. We have removed the Commandments of God from many of our government buildings. We rebuke praying in the streets and turn away from God’s Word. Antonyms of wisdom are conceit, distrust, and commonality. Sound familiar? Our country is full of conceit right now. So many are busy fighting for their rights and trampling on the rights of others. Distrust is rampant: distrust of the police, government officials, doctors, neighbors, and each other. Instead of seeking God’s wisdom we often follow whatever is in front of us at the time.
God’s wisdom should be our goal. America, pick up your Bible and read what that means.
Father, true wisdom is a gift that only You, Father, can give. May we always be in right standing with You. Let the words we speak honor You, and let us never speak Your name in vain. Let us stay steadfast and live in such a way that Your light will shine through us wherever we go. Thank You, Father, for Your mercy and love. And Father God, put a hunger for your Word in the hearts of America so that we will use Your wisdom. In Jesus’ Name, Amen
“If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.” 2 Chronicles 7:14
