If my people…Day 22

Hear my cry, O God; attend to my prayer. From the end of the earth I will cry to You, when my heart is overwhelmed; lead me to the rock that is higher than I. For You have been a shelter for me, a strong tower from the enemy., I will abide in the shelter of Your wings.” Psalm 61:1-4

I cannot find peace anywhere on earth that I do not allow God to be present with me. When I start to focus on the bad actions of America, I am basically telling God to sit this one out while I hate. In these times I am miserable. I cannot find anything good. I am letting my selfish feelings get in the way of God’s voice telling me that He has all under HIs control. So I cry out to Him when my heart is overwhelmed with fear for the things going on around me: disease, violence, back stabbing, corruption. I will pray to the God who has this under His wing. I will shelter in his strong tower. America is my land, and I will pray to the God who has America in His care.

When we see the bad all around us, let us pray. Let us pray for our government that they are each on their knees in the morning seeking God’s direction for their decisions for America. Let us spray for those who are feeling hurt that they will find peace and justice. That they will not confuse history with the present and that our government officials make decisions that will erase any injustice that exists in fairness for all. Let us pray for our police that they will seek God for each incident they face. And let us pray for all first responders that God will protect their health, their reputation, and their families. Let us pray for America from the highest government official to the homeless on the street. This is our country, we give it back to God.

Father, we recognize that there are those who would speak evil against You when hardship knocks at their door. Let us forever stand firm in the foundation of our faith. Let us live in the center of Your will. We will come to You each day for strength and endurance. Help us, O God, to be the people You wish us to be, for we trust in You. In Jesus” holy Name, Amen
