“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer; My God, my strength, in whom I will trust; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, Who is worthy to be praised; So shall I be saved from my enemies.” Psalm 18:2-3
Who are my enemies. I used to always think that my enemies were far away, in other countries. Surely I couldn’t have enemies in the United States of America. I am a middle – class white business woman. Why would I have enemies? I’m learning different. I have an enemy and his name is Satan. He is seeking to destroy me, my family, my friends, my country.
We are often blinded to this enemy. He comes disguised as “you deserve this” or “you don’t deserve this.” He eases into our lives by making us look at others who are different from the way God designed us and by filling our thoughts full of jealousy or fear. We find ourselves looking more at this enemy than we do at our Rock and our Fortress. We ignore our Deliverer and forget that our strength is not internal. We must call on the Lord Jesus Christ to be saved from this enemy.
Lord, You are the rock and strength of the United States of America. You are the only one who can deliver us from our enemies. We trust in You and pray humbly for Your guidance and direction for this nation. Give us wisdom to make right choices. Help[ us to live in such a way that Your Name will be honored in all things. May You forever by praised. Amen
