“Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
Anxiety. Fear. Depression. Each of these are so prevalent in America today. Riots in the name of protests. A virus that supposedly spreads through breathing. Seniors made to live either alone with no contact from friends and family or living in communities where they are in close contact with others who are immuno – compromised and subject to catching COVID – 19.
And what about our government? The media wants us so saturated with the negative that we forget that we elected our officials and God commands that we respect our leaders. A friend of mine said the other day, “I wish our news broadcasters would go back to the Walter Cronkite days and report the news without a political agenda attached.” I agree.
God is in control. But only if we realize this will we truly “be anxious for nothing.”
Father, The worries of each day are ever around us. Conflict, both within and without, threatens the peace we so desperately want and seek. Father, we come to You with open hearts, seeking Your guidance and being content with all that You have given us as (Americans). Guard our hearts, O Lord, so that we will be faithful to You, and let the peace of Your presence surround us each and every day. Amen
