if My People… Day 2

“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.” Jeremiah 33:3

In my devotions this morning, I read so many verses in Jeremiah where he is crying out to God, giving Him glory, and asking for deliverance. Jeremiah 16:19 – 21 is one example; “O Lord, my strength and my fortress, my refuge in time of distress, to You the nations will come from the ends of the earth and say, ‘Our fathers possessed nothing but false gods, worthless idols that did them no good. Do men make their own gods? Yes, but they are not gods!’ Therefore I will teach them – this time I will teach them my power and might. Then they will know that my name is the Lord.”

In America today, we have made idols of our “rights”. Yes, we should all be equal as we are in God’s sight, but we will not get there without the indwelling of the Holy Spirit to guide us. Where is God in the riots and anger? Where is God in the self – destruction of our cities? We ask God for help, but we also need to accept His help in the manner that He chooses to give it. Personalize today’s prayer in whatever way you feel God is leading you:

Lord, You have asked us (as a nation) to call to You, with the promise that You will answer when we do. We humbly seek Your guidance for (America). Give us wisdom so that we sill be a people guided by Your Spirit and filled with Your presence. Help us, O Lord, to honor You in word and deed, that we as (an American) people will have Your blessing and favor. Amen

I am a Christian wife, mother, grandmother and friend. My birth verse is Galatians 5:25 "If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit" and it truly represents how I want to be known. My blog is my personal insight into living as a godly submissive wife, a mother with "eyes in the back of her head" and Mamaw's Baby Grands can do no wrong. I hope that you will find exactly what you need each time you read. Be blessed. Sheila
