Just another day

Today is Easter. Resurrection Sunday. A day that we as Christians, and some not so much, celebrate with family. We go to church, or we stream our service. We spend family time coloring eggs, filling Easter baskets, and eating ham. It is a special day. But why? To me, this is just another day.

Over 2000 years ago my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, rose from the grave to give me new life. He walked the streets and showed his followers that He was the Christ, Jesus, the man that they had followed for several years. They stood and watched as He rose to be with his Father in heaven. And He left them with these words, “Go into all the world and proclaim the gospel to the whole creation.” Mark 16:15

Jesus was and is real. He lives. He intercedes for me, a sinner living in earth. He left the Holy Spirit with me to guide me and remind me when I am doing wrong. Jesus lived so that I would not die. And He deserves more than just one day of celebration.

Don’t get me wrong, I actually cried yesterday because I could not be with my family on this special, celebrated day. I like coloring eggs with my grandchildren and watching them run around the back yard finding the treasures that their Mom and Day had hidden earlier. I love the family time. But I love family time every day. And I am thankful for Jesus’ sacrifice every day.

Easter is a celebration of life. Just like any other day. I woke up this morning and thanked God for giving me one more day to serve Him. I thanked Him for the blessings of my hubby, my home, my children, and my Baby Grands. Just like any other day. I made coffee and then I went out on the porch and did my devotions and wrote in my journal. Just like any other day.

The joy of Jesus’ resurrection is not a once a year thing. It should be a daily praise. A celebration of new life in Christ each and every day. Praising Him for the life He lived as well as His death and resurrection. Knowing that Jesus is sitting at God’s right hand, interceding for me, makes every day an Easter day.

Enjoy your Easter celebration today. Put on your Sunday best. Laugh with your children and grandchildren. Eat ham and potato salad and baked beans. It’s Easter! Have fun!

Then do it again tomorrow. After all, it’s just another day.

Happy Resurrection Day!

My blog is my personal insight into living as a godly submissive wife, a mother with "eyes in the back of her head" and Mamaw's Baby Grands can do no wrong. I hope that you will find exactly what you need each time you read. Be blessed. Sheila
