Thirty Days of Prayer for @realDonaldTrump – Day 5: Trust in God over Self

Brothers and sisters, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. God chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things—and the things that are not—to nullify the things that are, so that no one may boast before him. It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God—that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. Therefore, as it is written: “Let the one who boasts boast in the Lord.””                                                                     1 Corinthians 1: 26 – 31

Father God, we have heard the boasting and self – pride in the weeks leading up to the elections. We have cringed during the debates and cried during the commercials. But it is over now. Now we have a new president – elect who must let go of the showmanship and get down to the business of running our country.

I pray for Donald Trump, Lord, that inside his heart he is nothing like what we saw during the campaign. I feel that he is honest to a fault, Lord, even to the point of stating that he has not asked your Son, Jesus Christ to forgive him for his sins. I pray that soon he will realize just how important that step is to the position You have called him to.

I pray, Lord, that President – Elect Trump will seek your esteem over his own, maybe even to reading a book I wrote encouraging him to look to You for his answers and not to religion. That he will realize that God has chosen him as a weak vessel of the world; someone that no one would think could lead our great America, in order to show everyone what God can do. Bless him, Lord, with your wisdom, your guidance, and your way of reaching and leading the people. Let Donald Trump boast in You and Your abilities so that America will once again see your Hand in all that he does. And, Father God, as he chooses his cabinet and staff, remind Mr. Trump that You chose him, and that he should look to You for confirmation in each choice he makes.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
