“Jesus knew their thoughts and said to them, “Every kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand.”
Matthew 12:25
Father God, there are those in our country who are very much afraid of the decisions that Donald Trump may make. There are riots and protests across America. There are angry words representing the fear in the hearts of many people. This is justifiable fear, Lord, if we don’t keep You as our focus.
In order to keep America great, Father God, we must put our own wants aside and seek You and your desires for us. We must forgive those who have given us a bias and look to today. We cannot change the past, but we can move forward under the power of our Lord and Savior. Donald Trump has spoken some harsh words about women in the past and I have to admit, they cut me deep as the recipient of abuse from almost every male relative as I was growing up. I have seen horrible abuse done to the women I counsel and it is hard to not let this be a bias. Lord, help us to pray for Mr. Trump’s salvation which includes asking You for forgiveness for these statements as well as any actions he may have taken against women. Then, Lord, help us to heal from the abuse we have faced in the past.
Lord, I know that many families are afraid that some part of that family will need to leave the United States, because they are not citizens. Father, our government has always welcomed people from around the world into our lives. but we have also provided a way for them to become a part of this country through legalization. I pray for those who are afraid, Lord Jesus, that they will find a way to become citizens if they want to be a part of making America great again. Help them to understand that this is just one way that we must strengthen our people and pull together as a unified nation.
Father, I ask that You would calm the masses and help them to have understanding. You cannot fear what has not happened and, Lord, there is too much life ahead to live in anger. I ask that President – Elect Trump would forgive those who are against him and look to You for his answers to their fears. Lord, above all, let your Holy Spirit be our guide in all things.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
