“I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, and exhort, with complete patience and teaching.”
2 Timothy 4:1-2
Father God, as my pastor studies your Word, let your Holy Spirit be the only voice he hears. Let the words that he writes be only the words that your Spirit has led him to write. And, Lord, as he writes, let him not slip into selfish desires for what he wants to say, because of what he knows as our shepherd, but give him a discerning heart to know the difference between his own words and the words that your Spirit whispers to him.
I pray, Father, that the vision that You have for your people would be revealed to my pastor as he builds his sermon points and that, when he stands behind the podium and starts to speak, that Your vision would be revealed and clearly interpreted as You use our pastor to relay the Word to us.
In Jesus’ Name,
Amen
