Thirty Days of Prayer for My Pastor – Day 1

October is known in many places as Clergy Appreciation month, and how better can we appreciate our pastors than to pray for them? No matter what religious affiliation you are in, join with me to pray for your church leaders. Now, I will focus the title on Pastors, but my hope is that you will take the Scripture references and prayers and use them as starting points for your own personal supplications. Pray for  all servants of God: Pastor, Music Minister, Sunday school teachers, deacons, elders, Women’s Ministry leaders, Outreach, and all that the Holy Spirit brings to your mind as you pray. Let’s pray and watch as God answers. “Father God, as we begin this thirty days of prayer for our pastors, open our hearts and our minds to those who you want us to include in these prayers.  Revival starts today!

“…praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication. To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, and also for me, that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel.”

Ephesians 6:18-19

Lord, I lift my pastor up to You. He has dedicated his life to serving You and your people and I know that he only wants the best for each member of the family that You have entrusted him with. I ask, Father God, that he would take this calling as a direct communication from You to fulfill your desires on earth. Protect him from becoming so “people pleasing” that he forgets that his only call is to please You. Show him daily that it is impossible to ever please all of the people, but that it is simple to please You…all he has to do is listen for Your voice.

I pray, Lord, that when he rises to bring your message, that he is so in tune to You that he can only speak what You have put on his heart for our church. Release him from fear and give him boldness in speaking whatever your Holy Spirit leads him to say.

I pray that he will carry the mantle of Elijah and that he will experience the anointing of the Holy Spirit each time he preaches your Word. Thank you for leading our pastor to lead us.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen
