Thirty Days of Prayer for My Husband – Day 26: His Idols

 ^“Put to death therefore what is earthly in you: sexual immorality, impurity, passion, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry.”

Colossians 3:5

What a beautiful day! Thank You, Father God, for giving me one more day to love and support my husband. Today, Lord, I ask you to strengthen him in the way he spends his time. Lord, there are so many ways that his job seems to be an idol to him. The time he spends at work is a very small part of the time he is “at work.” He often dreams about it, one situation or another. And he will sit and think about his job to the point that he may not even know we are around him. I ask You, Lord, to deliver him from this obsession and help him to see that he is setting an example for his children, especially his sons.

I pray Lord, for his free – time activities, that each of them are honorable and glorifying to You. Help him to think about what he would do if You walked into the room during one of his TV shows. Help him to see that everything that is not of You, that he can’t put away, can become an idol. And deliver him.

I pray Father, that my hubby would not put anything or anyone, above You…including me. Soften his heart to seek You above all things. And, Lord, give me wisdom in how to help my partner overcome the idols in his life.
